Laminated and/or tempered glass increases safety. Their resistance to puncture or breakage is tailored to customer requirements. VSG glass (from Ger. Verbund Sicherheits Glas, laminated safety glass) effectively reduces the risk of burglary or theft. If it breaks, the remains of the glass stay attached to the film, making injuries to nearby people unlikely. Polyvinyl-butyral film (PVB) also makes it difficult to break through the glass. It is possible to order safety windowpanes that meet the EN 356 standard with PVB films, which can be characterized by resistance class P1A using 33.1 glass, up to P8B using 28mm thick VSG safety glass. ESG glass (with Ger. Einscheiben Sicherheitsglas - tempered safety glass). Thanks to the toughening method, the glass is characterized by increased resistance to crushing or breakage. However, if it breaks, it falls apart into small pieces with blunt edges, which minimizes the risk of injury. Safety glass, depending on the selected thickness, is characterized by a diverse class according to EN 12600 norm.
